Le Cervin est une montagne qui se trouve sur la frontière de la Suisse ( canton du Valais ) et de L'Italie, elle culmine a 4478m D'altitude, c'est ce pic solitaire qui a influencé l'écrivain britannique J.R.R Tolkien pour la Montagne Solitaire de son livre "Bilbon le Hobbit".

C'est le Britannique Edward Whymper et son équipe qui réussissent la première ascension du Cervin Le 14 juillet 1865 car auparavant cette montagne était considérée comme insurmontable et causa la mort de nombreux et téméraires alpinistes de tous horizon, ce qui est malheureusement toujours le cas aujourd'hui. C'est d'ailleurs en Juillet 2015 que la ville de Zermatt a célébrer les 150 ans de la première ascension du Cervin, 49 lampes ont été misent en place le long de l'arête du Hörnli pour indiquer l'itinéraire emprunter par Edward et son équipe elles ce sont illuminées chaque soir de Juillet à fin septembre 2015.

The Matterhorn is a mountain on the border of Switzerland (canton of Valais) and Italy, it rises to 4478m altitude, its this solitary peak that influenced the British writer JRR Tolkien for the Lonely Mountain from his book "The Hobbit".

It's the British Edward Whymper and his team who succeed the first ascent of the Matterhorn at the July 14, 1865 because previously this mountain was considered insurmountable and caused the death of many and reckless alpinists of all horizon, which is unfortunately still the case today. It's also in July 2015 that the city of Zermatt celebrated 150 years of the first ascent of the Matterhorn, 49 lamps were set up along the ridge of Hörnli to indicate the route take by Edward and his team, its illuminated each evening from July to the end of September 2015.
